Meet Our Staff

Dr. Larry Cook

Dr. Cook grew up just north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Born in Miami, Florida, he loves to tell people he is from Florida although he only lived there six weeks.

Having Braces on his teeth at an early age convinced him to become a dentist. He finished high school with one direction in mind, dentistry. "After attending Baylor University, I was fortunate to be accepted at Baylor College of Dentistry" Dr. Cook states. Baylor Dental School stresses giving back to society what we can and he has lived up to that ideal.

Dr. Cook practiced dentistry in New Mexico for thirty years prior to retirement at the age of 54. His wife, Marie, is from Hickory and wanted to return to her native state of North Carolina. Famous last words: "we thought we would be here a few years and then head back West, that was 18 years ago". Dr. Cook and Marie are here to stay.

Dr. Cook discovered Mountain City when he helped out at a free dental clinic held at the airport here. Remote Area Medical (RAM) held a free dental clinic and Dr. Cook was hooked on Mountain City. "We kept our home built airplane at the Mountain City Airport for eight years, so for eight years we were in Mountain City twice a week. We both wished we had discovered Mountain City prior to buying a small farm in Boone."

The Cooks plan on moving to Mountain City in the near future, in the meantime, Dr. Cook commutes daily from Meat Camp, NC.

Our motto is "feel the difference nice people make". If we fail to live up to this, please let us know.
